They often end up having to build custom hardware as well as program the games. What does that mean, in practice? It means that we have a great many <a href=\"http:\/\/game.speldesign.uu.se\/projects\/arcade-games\/cryptogram\/\">weird<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/game.speldesign.uu.se\/projects\/arcade-games\/get-meckt\/\">wonderful<\/a>  <a href=\"http:\/\/game.speldesign.uu.se\/projects\/arcade-games\/crocodile-chow-down\/\">games<\/a> on our showfloor (for you to play!). <\/p>\n<p>Three of the games from last year were <a href=\"http:\/\/game.speldesign.uu.se\/blog\/more-games-to-san-francisco\/\">selected by the alt.ctrl.GDC organizers<\/a>, to exhibit at the Game Developers Conference. Those students just returned a few days ago, and judging by the press, they did well over there! So we thought, let&#8217;s gather up all the coverage they earned! <small>(and encourage our readers visit Gotland in June to <a href=\"https:\/\/ti.to\/campus-gotland-game\/ggc2018\">experience the 2018 games<\/a> before anyone else!)<\/small><\/p>\n<p>First out was Make: Magazine who interviewed 1st year student Eric Osana for <a href=\"http:\/\/game.speldesign.uu.se\/projects\/arcade-games\/pump-the-frog\/\">Pump the Frog<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/JDvSgbUkMD0?t=7m56s\">at 7:56<\/a>:<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Alt.Ctrl: Amazing Games Made with Maker Tech\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JDvSgbUkMD0?start=476&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kotaku.com\/we-played-a-mystery-game-while-trapped-in-a-coffin-1824034855\">Kotaku loved<\/a> Totally Not a Game Studio&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/game.speldesign.uu.se\/projects\/arcade-games\/grave-call\/\">Grave Call<\/a>&#8220;. It&#8217;s a fantastic 2-player game where one of the team has been buried alive, and the other is a police operator trying to find them. The best part? If you want to try our new games out (without having to travel to the US to do so!), come to our conference in June!
