I’m Ruoyu Wen, a PhD Candidate in Product Design at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. I hold a Master’s in Game Design from Uppsala University, Sweden, and a Bachelor’s in Communication from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China. I bridge theoretical research and practical game development across cultures, with experience as a game designer and academic researcher. My research explores Human-Agent Interaction, Virtual Reality, Alternate Reality Games (ARGs), and game design. I investigate how players engage with immersive experiences, AI-driven interactions, and narrative formats that blur fiction and reality—using mixed-method approaches combining quantitative analytics with qualitative insights.
